Camtasia or Live Video Presentations
If you have been involved in Internet marketing for a while, or for that matter just a few days, you can fail to have noticed that Video can play a major part for increasing your online presence.
Many people have tried in the past to create an online video, but I’m sure those who have tried will agree, that it is not as simple as some will have you believe. It’s just like anything else, it take time and practice to get it right, and while i don’t think in all cases you need to produce a Hollywood type production, those who can produce a video with good basic video production techniques will succeed, while others are left behind in their wake.
Screen capture or Live Presentations
SCREEN CAPTURE – What do I mean by screen capture? ………. Basically it’s a method of recording the visual content of what ever you are doing live on the computer, and once the screen capture software is set up, it’s just a matter of clicking on record and you will start recording a video of what ever you want. Don’t forget you Can also add a sound track and voice over while your recording or later should you wish. This is probably the easiest way to get started with producing a video for viewing both on an Internet web site, blog, or even to record for a CD or DVD
LIVE PRESENTATION - This has got to be the hardest of the 2 methods to get right, not only have you got to get the sound just right, you have to make sure you or who ever you are getting to do the live presentation, can actually pull it off.
thing you will I’m sure you have, or will see many Internet Marketers trying to do live video presentations themselves. Even those who are comfortable with live audiences such as at a seminar or workshop, just cannot quite cut the mustard when they stand or sit in front of a video camera. There is something that makes a video presenting or live video that is totally alien to most people, and that’s the fact that it’s the most unnatural ever have to do.
What I mean by that? – you may find yourself in a room alone with just a script to read from or teleprompter, a camcorder or web cam, and you have to speak to camera, just as if you are talking to someone else. It take time and practice, and I’m afraid it’s just a fact that most people simply will never be able to do it successfully, or to a degree that makes the viewer feel comfortable watching.
What I think of live presentations
Recording the sound Live
It’s not always appropriate or necessary to record the sound track at the same time you produce the screen capture. Although many people seam to do this as standard practice, probably to save themselves time. It really is not good for the viewer to have to listen to anyone, no matter how interesting the topic or the person presenting, it’s really annoying to have to listen to all the umms and arrs. So if you can, I would always recommend you record the sound track separate to video.
Another trap that a lot of people fall into, is the belief that you should add the sound after you have recording the video track. This is in fact the hardest way to do it, it may take a little more planning , but the end result will be a much polished and better produced, more professional looking video by first recording the sound track, made up of the presenters voice, sounds effects and any background music.
By doing it in this order you will find the inclusion of still or moving video can easily be added to the audio content at just the right moment in time. At this stage any titles can also be added to enhance the presentation further.

How to Create you own video
The methods I used to create this video, are not all that difficult once you know the basics, and you must be prepared to spend time learning the software and techniques, and yes, you are going to need to spend some money, but no where near as much as you may think, more on that later. In fact many of the methods and techniques I use, can be acquired very easily, and some of the software used can be found either in the public domain, or supplied FREE.
Do you need a Video Production Company?
Time and time again I hear the same thing………… well it’s alright for you, you have been involved in Video Production for years, you know what you are doing, and how to did it……. and in some respects they are right. I agree that I have learnt the skills over the years that has enabled me to produce reasonable quality videos, they are not the best you will ever see by far, but they are just good enough to get the message across. And that is all you need to do to compete with everyone else, just good enough. What I mean is, they are not Hollywood productions, they don’t have all the latest effects, but what they should have is content, full of content that cannot be explained in any other form or shown better than with the use of video.
I’m going to let you into a little secret……….
I’m going to let you into a little secret……….and i think you will be a little suprised Now, although I do own more expensive and better quality video equipment, the video above was all shot on the simplest video equipment you could possible ever get anywhere, and as I explained earlier, it only needs to be good enough. Why did I not use the better or more expensive gear ?……… I wanted to prove that with just the basic video hardware a good quality video for the web can be produced , quickly and easily.
$45 webcam and no lights
Don’t go out and spend a lot of money, just use the equipment you already have……… I used a $45 web-cam to shoot this video, together with Freely available software to enhance and improve the image quality to an acceptable level. It was filmed using nothing more than natural daylight coming through a window, no big expensive lighting rigs. A laptop was used to record the video directly onto the hard drive, and a simple stick microphone to record the audio. Now that is really basic, i’m sure you will agree.
Although I have worked with and used some of the best video gear, the video software used today, is just as new to me, as it is to many of you, and it changes and improves every day. So in that respect, I am just as much a newbie as anyone else. (Well, perhaps not quite a Newbie !) Just as within the Internet Marketing arena, knowing how to do something, does not make you any more money than someone who is a complete newbie or knows very little, unless your prepared to get off your backside, get out there and apply what you have learnt !
How can I make money from Video?
Well, that’s a good question, and my answer as always is ……….. “make a video of yourself”
Now before you go off running to the hills screaming, “I can’t go in front of a camera”, You must realise one thing, and well, get over yourself …… unless you are naturally blessed with good looks or beauty, have one of those great voices you hear on Film & Radio, then you are probably like the rest of us……….. JUST NORMAL, you possibly don’t think your good enough for video, or your voice is not right, or you have sticky out ears, crooked teeth, etc etc. But that’s just my point. Just being normal or being just like everyone else, is one of the biggest assets you have for making you money with Internet Marketing. simply because, your not trying to impress or get your message over to the likes of Brad Pitt or Engelina Jolie are you ? – your biggest market is those of us who are just normal regular types of people you meet every single day. Just get in front of the camera and talk about something you know a lot about, try to make it entertaining as well as full of content, and i guarantee you will make money, and a lot of it.
Now I know that may sound a bit pedantic, and i will not make any apologies for that, but what most people don’t realise is you probably have every thing you need to make your first video already.
