Orwell Pro is one of those great utilities for the production of Articles, yet only when everything works as it should, and assuming you can start the software!

Having used Orwell for a number of years without any problems, I was very upset when one day it refused to start up. In fact it became a struggle to get it working again. The problem being error messages as soon as any attempt to run the software was made……..

Having fixed it, a year had passed and it again stopped working, just as before it would not run, could I remember how I fixed the problem ?……….
No chance, so again I struggled to get it operational again, except this time I would document every step I made to get it up and running, and if you are having the same problem, here is how it can be fixed.

Here are 2 of the most common “error messages” you may get!

If it says
it appears you do not have an up-to-date version of vbscript.dll installed

OR

Error Message
Runtime Error 429: ActiveX component cannot create object.
Cause
The Microsoft Windows Scripting Engine is not installed on the system.

Here is the Fix!

(this fix may also help other programmes that use VB6)

Firstly, you need to un-install the software and remove all traces of it from your hard drive ( I use Your uninstaller ) then restart your computer, and re-install Orwell again.

Probably wise to see at this point if your still getting any of these error messages, if so follow these steps…….

Step 1.
Your going to need to install the “Windows Script Package” this includes the Windows Scripting engine, and can be downloaded from the link below, and install it………. If your still getting same error, continue to step 2.

Step2.

You are now going to need to download the VB6_Explorer_Bar_Control_Binary.zip

Inside the zip you will find a file called- vbalExpBar6.ocx, this needs to be placed inside your system folder:
C:\Windows\System32      (assuming your system is on the C: drive)

(You may be required to be logged in as an administrator to do this)

Step 3.

Then, click the windows Start button (lower left corner of the screen), and select Run

This will then bring up this little Run window,
copy and paste  regsvr32 vbalexpbar6.ocx
 into the box and click on the OK button
 (see pic below)

You should get a message telling you it has succeeded.

Step 4.
If you still have the same problem, you may also need to run these commands also:

regsvr32 vbaliml6.ocx

regsvr32 ssubtmr6.dll

It works for me, let me know how you get on?

Your presented with a Runonce page, So you happily make your selections and hit the ” Save your Settings”, only to be presented with another screen stating ………… ” Settings were not able to be saved successfully”

And no matter what you try, you cannot remove this annoying page, and to make matters worse, it will to continue to appear each and every time you open up Internet Explorer 7.

Having first tried many methods to remove the Internet Explorer 7 - Runonce, including running gpedit.msc and regedit to edit the setting, nothing worked satisfactorily.

The IE7 RunOnce Remover is the only easy method I have found that works successfully for me 100% every time, and with a lot of users out there wanting, or should I say “Needing” this Internet Explorer 7 - Runonce Remover, I thought I would make it available to download from here.

And one other thing before you go, you don’t have to have an HD camcorder to view in HD on youtube, as long as you upload your video with a size of 1280 x 720 pixels or larger.

I was going to make a video myself, but Derek has already produced one and it clearly shows the benefit of HD.

Many people have tried in the past to create an online video, but I’m sure those who have tried will agree, that it is not as simple as some will have you believe. It’s just like anything else, it take time and practice to get it right, and while i don’t think in all cases you need to produce a Hollywood type production, those who can produce a video with good basic video production techniques will succeed, while others are left behind in their wake.

Screen capture or Live Presentations

SCREEN CAPTURE - What do I mean by screen capture? ………. Basically it’s a method of recording the visual content of what ever you are doing live on the computer, and once the screen capture software is set up, it’s just a matter of clicking on record and you will start recording a video of what ever you want. Don’t forget you Can also add a sound track and voice over while your recording or later should you wish. This is probably the easiest way to get started with producing a video for viewing both on an Internet web site, blog, or even to record for a CD or DVD

LIVE PRESENTATION - This has got to be the hardest of the 2 methods to get right, not only have you got to get the sound just right, you have to make sure you or who ever you are getting to do the live presentation, can actually pull it off.
thing you will I’m sure you have, or will see many Internet Marketers trying to do live video presentations themselves. Even those who are comfortable with live audiences such as at a seminar or workshop, just cannot quite cut the mustard when they stand or sit in front of a video camera. There is something that makes a video presenting or live video that is totally alien to most people, and that’s the fact that it’s the most unnatural ever have to do.

What I mean by that? - you may find yourself in a room alone with just a script to read from or teleprompter, a camcorder or web cam, and you have to speak to camera, just as if you are talking to someone else. It take time and practice, and I’m afraid it’s just a fact that most people simply will never be able to do it successfully, or to a degree that makes the viewer feel comfortable watching.

What I think of live presentations

Recording the sound Live

It’s not always appropriate or necessary to record the sound track at the same time you produce the screen capture. Although many people seam to do this as standard practice, probably to save themselves time. It really is not good for the viewer to have to listen to anyone, no matter how interesting the topic or the person presenting, it’s really annoying to have to listen to all the umms and arrs. So if you can, I would always recommend you record the sound track separate to video.

Another trap that a lot of people fall into, is the belief that you should add the sound after you have recording the video track. This is in fact the hardest way to do it, it may take a little more planning , but the end result will be a much polished and better produced, more professional looking video by first recording the sound track, made up of the presenters voice, sounds effects and any background music.

By doing it in this order you will find the inclusion of still or moving video can easily be added to the audio content at just the right moment in time. At this stage any titles can also be added to enhance the presentation further.
